I have 3 beautiful children – Oliver in 2002, Molly in 2005 and Kai in 2006. I had Oliver at hospital and hated it; I felt real dislike for the 
birthing process as it had not been as I imagined it. As a result I was adamant I would have Molly at home, so that I would feel more in control and be able to do as I liked, without feeling the need to ask permission.
I enjoyed the experience so much, that I had Kai at home as well. That’s what works for me but I am mindful that every one has different needs and wishes. I love working with pregnant mothers, as it is a period in a woman’s life where so many emotions are running at the same time and it is difficult to judge good information from bad. I feel I have an easy, non-judgemental manner; I am a good listener, who values confidentiality and I have instinctive knowledge about pregnancy, labour and birth.
When I discovered that being a Doula was a real job, I went on a ‘Nurturing Birth’ course to qualify as a Doula so that I could add researched information and scientific knowledge to my experience. I am also a member of Doula UK, the largest organisation of Doulas in the UK. I am a
registered
childminder, so you can be sure of good care of any older children. I am a trained breastfeeding Mother Supporter with Sure Start’s Empowering Mothers to Breastfeed and the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers and I am currently working towards becoming a Breastfeeding Counsellor with the ABM. Having said that, my job is to support you regardless of how you choose to feed your baby.
I am also a party organiser for ‘Truly Madly Baby’. This is a company who sell all kinds of things for pregnancy through to toddlerhood by holding parties – ideal for baby showers or just a way of getting to know other mums in the area.
